By lending his expertise to its planning and execution, Dustin ensures that the community's heroes are given the recognition they deserve.


Dustin's impact extends far beyond these events. He understands the power of supporting the arts and inspiring young talent and entrepreneurs in his beloved hometown of Lansing, Michigan. A creative idea was born in 2018 when he envisioned a pop-up restaurant, showcasing his culinary prowess in unique and unconventional settings. This idea catapulted him into working as a private chef and caterer for esteemed names such as NENE Leakes, Kim Zolciak-Biermann, The Los Angeles Dodgers, Cheech Marin, Jim Belushi, Dan Akroyd, Redemption Cannabis, House of Dank, Ky-Mani Marley, and Stevie Nicks, to name just a few.


In 2022, Chef Dustie once again demonstrated his visionary mindset and commitment to his community. He played a pivotal role in planning the development of The Junction, formerly known as Green Dot Stables. Then, opening his very own brand, The Goat on Grand River in Michigan. These projects showcase his dedication to creating spaces that foster inclusivity, where everyone feels welcome.

Since its founding in January 2023, The Goat on Grand River LLC had been a dream come true for Chef Dustin Morrell and his two former partners. The vision of opening a trendy tapas and speakeasy restaurant in Brookfield Plaza seemed within reach, and the three partners poured their hearts and souls into making it a reality.
During the initial stages of development, Chef Dustie took charge and financed the project single-handedly. His passion for creating an exceptional dining experience drove him to invest his own personal funds into securing the location, hiring staff, and procuring vendor relationship. It was a labor of love for him and a testament to his unwavering dedication.

However, as the spring of 2023 arrived, unforeseen financial issues emerged that caught the partners off guard. The business encountered difficulties that forced them to reassess their financial situation. Sadly, it became necessary for each partner to draw back their financial interests in the project, setting back the development by several months.

Realizing the setbacks would take time to overcome, Chef Dustie faced a difficult decision. He chose to close the chapter on the Brookfield Plaza location and take a step back to fine-tune the business plan. This setback only fueled his determination to make The Goat on Grand River a resounding success. A fresh perspective and a renewed commitment, Chef Dustie begun the search for a new location. He knows that finding a sophisticated and trendy concept that aligns with his vision is crucial. The goal is to create a space that will captivate diners and leave a lasting impression on their culinary journey.


During this search, Chef Dustie will explore various neighborhoods with the goal of finding a location that will truly embody the essence of The Goat on Grand River. Meticulously considering every detail, from the ambiance to the surrounding community, ensuring that the new location will offer the perfect setting to showcase our culinary talents. We’re tirelessly working on fine-tuning the business plan, taking into account the lessons learned from the setback. The new plan aimed to strengthen the financial foundation of the endeavor, ensuring a more secure future for The Goat on Grand River.

Though faced with unexpected challenges, Dustie remains optimistic. He embraces the belief that every setback is an opportunity for growth. The closure of the Brookfield Plaza chapter marked the beginning of a new chapter full of possibilities, one that would ultimately lead to the perfect location and success for The Goat on Grand River, Tapas and Speakeasy.
